Jovian Mandagie Couture & Bridal

Clothing is a protective sheath that enters into a sensual dialogue with the body of the woman who wears it. I don’t want to just create clothing but in creating them, I want her to indulge and wear it with confidence and pride.

- Jovian Mandagie -

Being the number one designer in Malaysia, well-recognized for his genial inspired touch of Mal-Indo influences; alluringly crafted designs, infused high fashion with exclusive aesthetics, labels the house of Jovian Mandagie (JM). Since its founding in 2006, the brand is defined predominately in couture dresses from the legendary classic look to contemporary chic pieces, as well as daring bridal gowns and lavish evening dresses with innovative characteristics.

Paying the utmost attention to detail, from the selection of the most distinctive materials to implications on solid cuts and intricate craftsmanship, each of these elements is captured in his collection. His imposing design through his haute couture line has demonstrated the signature style and ability of Jovian Mandagie. His eclectic couture and bridal pieces can be viewed exclusively at the Jovian Mandagie Couture Boutique in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur or at The House of Jovian Mandagie in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

This astonishing designer’s creations have gained a remarkable reputation among Malaysia’s public figures, KL’s elites, and royalties, including the former Raja Permaisuri Agong; H.R.H. D.Y.M.M. Tuanku Nur Zahirah. Crossing the border, his clientele includes HM Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha of Brunei, the stars of Indonesia such as Rossa, Krisdayanti and the duo Ratu just to name a few.

Moving forward, having to break the new territory by producing a Magnum Chocolatier Collection had catapulted his career to a whole new level and chapter throughout his journey. In designing his eponymous label, JM received top honours as the recipient of 2011 Malaysia International Fashion Week’s Star Couturier Award and Designer of the Year. The following year, he was recognized by his peers when announced the winner of STYLO’s Best Designer Showcase, which led to another acknowledgement a year later by the same alliance as the Designer of the Year 2013.

His creativity was well-received from the start, where it also led him to becoming a notable wedding planner and event designer for a variety of high-profile clients; from weddings to parties and even corporate events. A force to be reckoned with, he had also jumped into the entertainment industry, appearing as a TV Host in a series entitled “Mahligai Cinta” on TV3 that has aired until its sixth season, the show focuses on ‘behind the scene’ of various wedding receptions around Malaysia.

His eclectic interpretation of elegance expressed through an avant-garde collection called “A Trapped Cinderella” which was showcased during STYLO in 2011, has earned him the Mercedes Benz – STYLO Best Showcase Award 2011. In 2012, he still wowed the audience and jury winning the same award for his “Angels & Demons” collection.

Introducing “Batik Is My Soul” (BIMS) is JM’s way to encourage Malaysians to start appreciating Batik and wearing this heritage with pride. He opened the inaugural exhibition at Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur in November 2011. JM showcased his collection of Batik inspired cocktail dresses at the exhibition, while partnering with designers such as KLutched, Benson Chen and Suhara Jewel Art incorporated the batik motif into evening bags, stiletto heels and jewellery. Batik artists and experts from the textile and fashion industry also highlighted their innovative pieces during the BIMS exhibition. Some of the pieces showcased were even produced by prisoners from the Kajang Women’s Prison under the prison’s skills programme.

His amazing designs are again expressed through an exotic collection called “Medusa” which was showcased during STYLO in early 2013 and moreover, by having the chance of growing the Jovian Mandagie Couture line wider, Jovian Mandagie created flamboyant designs during the same year; with the exquisite traditional material of the ‘Kain Tenun Pahang’ and was showcased in The Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

By venturing more in his creativity in haute couture, a bridal collection named “Sacred” was then born to cater all future brides and the collection was then brought to Prague, Czech Republic for a special appearance in The Prague Fashion Weekend in conjunction of his winning award for the Designer of the Year during STYLO 2013. Jovian Mandagie walked the runway with pride with Malaysia’s very own ‘Jalur Gemilang’.

With continuation of the support for STYLO 2014, Jovian Mandagie never fails to take another step to introduce amazing and delicate bridal pieces called “Splash of Romance” which was showcased on the runway at the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Fashion Grand Prix 2014. All pieces are white and authentic with draping and embellishments making the gowns glamorously dramatic.

Throughout all his successful journey of haute couture; Jovian Mandagie widens his wings with a collection made beautifully aroused from an inspiration of bohemian patterns and motives called the “Boho-Raya”. Once again integrates his creativity in swapping the three-dimensional shapes, volumes and artful layers in unconventional ways that remind the woman of JM on how wedding dresses could be translated through his bridal collection called as “Bridal Blossoms”. These exclusive pieces are showcased during one of the biggest events, Jovian Mandagie Annual Fashion Show 2014 which led to another achievement made by Jovian Mandagie and the team.

To maintain in being in the highly competitive and challenging fashion industry, achievements made will not be accomplished without Jovian Mandagie’s loyal customers and the appreciation he receives through the journey that he has built up until today.
